The crystal-clear* water is even suitable for those who suffer from allergies. As a result it is even safe for babies to swim in a natural pool.
From now on you can enjoy the beauty of bathing in natural water without sacrificing a huge amount of space by relying on conventional, solely plant based filtration. A soley plant based filtration generally requires a 1:1 ratio thereby limiting you in your swimming area, especially if the available garden space is limited.

Creating your own dream garden
A lakeside home – everyone dreams about it, but who can actually afford it? You can by simply building a Swimfresh natural pond in your own garden! And it’s not just the view that will put a smile on your face - a swimming pond like this has something to delight all the senses. Swimming is an excellent way of keeping fit, but you can also enjoy the flourishing plant life surrounding the pond, from spring right through to autumn. And if you think that all costs far too much time and money, think again! We will work hand-in-hand with landscape architects and keep your wishes in mind at all times to create a natural swimming pond for almost any size of location. We only need a minimum of 5% filtration area, however you can add a wide variety of pre-approved plants to your natural swimming pond to give it a very individual touch.
Integrated filter bed
1The filtration bed forms part of the design of a natural swimming pond. Water is constantly circulated through the filter and nutrients are primarily stored within the substrate contained in the biological filter.
The biomass in the substrate and/or root area of the filter zone is rapidly and efficiently supplied with oxygen, nutrients are thereby dissolved in the pond water through the permanent throughflow of water. The filtration helps to decompose all soluble nutrients and enables the pond's biomass to thrive in a stable as well as aerobic condition in the long term. Compared with systems where water does not flow through the regenerative zone, the rate of decomposition of nutrients is considerably more efficient. The aerobic conversion of nutrients in the filter also has the effect of reducing pH levels.Skimmer technology
2In order to gurantee effective surface skimming we rely on the so-called "donut skimmer". Such "donut skimmer" has the advantage of tolerating a high level of water fluctuation (this may come in handy if you spend an extended time away from home and the water level is not checked on a regular basis). Furthermore it can be integrated well into your natural pond without being to opressive from a visual point of view.
The positioning of the skimmer will vary depending on wind direction, leaf penetration and hydraulic requirements.
The pump technology
3Isn't the idea of having a Swimfresh natural pond a lot about doing something good with and also for nature? Well as this seems to be a fairly obvious goal we attempt to use the lowest energy consuming pumps possible. Depening on the dimensioning of the filtration area (varies according to positioning of pool, number of regular swimmers and climate conditions) it is often possible to run the filtration with a pump as low as 350watt (0.35kWh).
An auxiliariry pump (usually same wattage, however runs only about 2h / day) is used to run your skimmer that may be fitted with an automatic pool cleaner ("Kreepy Krauly"). Depening on your existing pond setup and/or your design aspirations the pumps may either be located in a seperate pump room (distance to the pond varies with the size of the pond and the pumps to be used in order to fulfull the necessary hydraulics to gurantee the effectiveness of the system) or alternatively be installed neatly into a Polyethylene pump box that is positioned in the ground.

In conjunction with a seperated filtration area a nice design feature could be a stone pathway that will visually seperate the filtration zone from the swimming area.

Leveraging on the continiously growing experience of 300+ installations a year and wide international experience throughout a variety of climate zones did help to advance biologial water filtration to a point where the Swimfresh System can rely on a filter sized at only 5% of the entire water surface*. This particular object benefited immensely from the possibility of an optimized filtration area that was integrated directly into the exisiting gunite shell. A fiberglass lining helped to set the right framework for effective long-term easy maintenance and helps to increase the water temperature slightly. Relying on a fiberglass linining in conjunction with the Swimfresh System will enable you to achieve approximately 28-30°C* without any need of fitting an additional heating that would increase your electricity bill.
