Why should you opt for the Swimfresh System?

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the benefits of having a seperate Swimfresh filter as a design element in the garden? When retro-fitting your existing formal pool into a Swimfresh natural pool it is often more cost-efficent to simply build a seperate filter and evaluate which part(s) of the existing infrastructure may potentially be reused.

2. Why should I convert my existing pool into / build a natural pool / pond? Beyond the various obvious health benefits the energy consumption of the pumps is significantly lower than on a conventional system. This is partially due to the fact that the turnover frequency of a natural pool is roughly between 15-24h to circulate the entire water one time. The frequency is significantly higher on a conventional pool and does therefore require significantly stronger pumps that consume a lot more energy.

3. Does a natural pool / pond require more maintenance than a conventional pool? Generally speaking 2-3h/week are sufficent. The time to be invested in maintaining the pool will however vary based on various factors like the amount of leafs that fall into the pool / pond, the usuage frequency as well as the cleaning result provided by the "Kreepy Krauly".

4. May I keep fish in the pool / pond? We do not recommend to keep fish in your system. Should you be looking into creating a natural pond it can be discussed on a case by case basis which kind of fish may possibly be introduced into the system.

5. What are the estimated running costs of such a system? The filtration pump for private households is mostly a low wattage pump (approximately 350watt) that runs 24/7. A seperate low wattage pump is used to run the skimmer or "Kreepy Krauly" for approximately 2-3h/day.

6. How sustainable is the water? The water is considered to be of "drinking water quality" as pathogen germs are eliminated by natural micro organisms. Due to different water testing parameters for a "drinking water" analysis and a "natural pool water" analysis the water is not perfectly compareable.

7. Are there any particular rules to follow with such a system? We highly recommend you to shower off quickly before entering the pool / pond. Taking the habit of showering off will help you keep the right biological balance in the system over the long term. As the water is very soft and does not contain any additives like chlorine or salt you will however not need to shower after swimming.
